  Notes	California Democrat, Missouri, 17 July 1941 Phillip Bass Dies Confederate Veteran Was one of Last of Civil War Soldiers Phillip Bass, one of the last surviving Civil war veterans in Central Missouri, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hosa Hampton, near Wooldridge, Wednesday night of last week at the age of 97 years, 10 months and 17 days. Mr. Bass spent practically his entire life in the vicinities of Lupus and Wooldridge. He had lived with Mrs. Hampton the past two years. Mr. Bass lived five years after one of his legs was amputated when he was 92 years old. His wife died 26 years ago. He was probably the last survivor of the Civil War who lived a major portion of his life in Moniteau County. He served in the Confederate army. Surviving besides Mrs. Hampton are a son, babe Bass of St. Louis and a daughter, Mrs. Julia McBride, of Tulsa, Okla. Funeral services and burial took place Saturday at Copp?s Chapel.
