Adeline Bassett Tucker
Retired from home health care and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died at 6:02 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 82. Visiting at Greater Mount Gideon Baptist Church, 5 p.m. until religious services at 7 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Edward Howard. Dismissal at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by husband, Luthur Tucker; two sons, Wilfred Kendricks Sr. and Michael Pitre; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Washington Kendricks; five grandchildren, Chante Guillory, Monique Kendricks, Wilfred Kendricks Jr., Johnathon Kendricks and Moyet Kendricks, all of Baton Rouge; six nieces, Georgia C. Dunbar, Mildred C. Burgess, Lulla Coats, Wilmer C. Barrett, Olivet C. O’Connor and Edna Y. Couts; a nephew, Wilbert L. Coats Jr., all of Baton Rouge; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Catherine and William Wright, Baton Rouge, and Earline and Robert Drayton, Oakland, Calif.; two godsons, Leonard Harris and Eddie Porche, both of Baton Rouge; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Burnett Bassett and Lulla Randall Bassett; a sister, Celestine Bassett Coats; a brother, Celestane Bassett; and a niece, Gloria Coats Harris. A Wesley Funeral Home, 10810 Ventress Drive, Maringouin, in charge of arrangements.
