      Earle H. Bassett, East Providence

      EARLE H. BASSETT, 79, of 9846 41st St., N., Pinellas Park, Fla., owner of the former Earle H. Bassett Atlantic Service Station in East Providence before retiring, died Wednesday at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg. He was the husband of Pearl M. (Phillips) Bassett.

      A son of the late Alton C. and Eva May (Hoyt) Bassett, he had lived in East Providence most of his life, moving to Florida in 1972.

      Mr. Bassett was a member of Haven United Methodist Church in East Providence. He was a former president of the East Providence Alumni Association.

      He was a Mason and member of St. Andrew's Lodge No. 39 of Riverside. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, Canonicus Lodge No. 9, of Rumford.

      Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Cynthia Ann Dillon and Deborah Jean Andrews, both of East Providence, Beverly Earlene Goulet of Chepachet and Claudia Mae Cote of Smithfield; a sister, Norma Ryer of East Providence; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

      A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Haven United Methodist Church, Taunton Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in the Rehoboth Cemetery, Rehoboth, Mass.

      Bassett, Earle Hoyt, 79, of Mainlands Unit 2, Pinellas Park, died Wednesday (April 5, 1995) at Northside Hospital. Born in Providence County, R.I., he came here in 1972 from East Providence, R.I., where he was owner and operator of an Atlantic service station. He was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge 39, AF&AM, and Odd Fellows Lodge 9, both of East Providence. Locally, he was a past president of the bowling league and a member of the shuffleboard club and the homeowners board, all of Mainlands Unit 2. He was a Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Pearl M.; four daughters, Cynthia Dillon and Deborah Andrews, both of East Providence, Beverly Goulet, Chepachet, R.I., and Claudia Cote, Smithfield, R.I.; ad sister, Norma Ryer, East Providence, nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
