Curtis D. Bass, 50, of Seelyville, died unexpectedly April 22, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. at his home. He was born November 25, 1963 the son of Warren “Sonny” Smith and Nancy Gullifor Smith. He worked as a sheet metal worker before his health declined. He worked from Local #20 out of Indianapolis.
February 5, 2004 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Edwards Bass; she survives.
Curtis was a member of the Isaac Walton League and he enjoyed camping there with the group, especially a campfire with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and watching the Colts.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jimbo Smith and David Smith; nephew, Scott Brady.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ann Bass of Seelyville; parents, Nancy and Warren Smith of Brazil; children, Megan Bass and Stephanie Hughes (David) of Brazil; step-children, Heather Coley (Curtis) of Bowling Green, Shawn Bussing (Brittany) of Cloverdale; grandchildren, Mollie Hyde, Caiden Clements, Jaxin Bussing, Skylee Hughes, Kayla Hughes, Lindsay Coley, Daniel Coley and Daphne Coley; brothers and sisters, Tom Smith (Tania), Cindy Brady (Hubert), Bob Smith, Kim Holly(Dave), Kelly Robertson (Todd), Kevin Smith (Traci), Mindy Gochanour (James), Betsy Trackwell Howson; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral Information
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Avenue, Saturday, April 26th from 5-7 p.m., with services beginning at 7 p.m. At his request, cremation will take place with burial of the ashes at a later date at Clearview Cemetery.
