Ronald K. Bass
Ronald ?Ron? K. Bass, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after a long illness. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many, Ron will be remembered for his kindness, his love of family and his enthusiasm for sports. Ron was a member of Crystal River Community Church, where he loved serving and singing in the choir. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Ron met his future wife, Jenny, 73 years ago. Together, they built a wonderful life, living in several cities before eventually making Crystal River their home in 1998. Ron?s passion for learning and the science of education led him to earn several degrees, including a doctorate in curriculum design from Michigan State University. Throughout his educational and professional journey, he remained a fun-loving husband and father, and his family shared many happy memories attending college sporting events together. At the University of Florida, Ron served as a professor in the College of Dentistry and later in the College of Education. He went on to serve as dean of Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia. Ron is survived by his son, David (Cindy) Bass; his daughter, Ronda (Marcus) Brinson; three grandchildren, Cassie Hoffmann, Kenny Andrews, and Austin Bass; and three greatgrandchildren, Dylan Hoffmann and twins Aiden and Augustina. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jenny; his son, Mark; and his sisters, Judy Paugh and Sherilyn Patrick. Ron?s family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff of Park of the Palms Christian Retirement Community for the loving care they provided. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Brown Funeral Home, 5430 W. Gulf-to-Lake Highway, Lecanto, Florida 34461.
