Garry Dean Bassett
Garry Dean Bassett, 68, a resident of Afton passed away at a Hillcrest Heart Hospital in Tulsa on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015. He was born Nov. 1, 1946 in Welch, Okla. to Thomas Grover Bassett Jr. and Helen Christine (Adkison) Bassett. Mr. Bassett graduated from Tulsa Welding School. He worked as a welder for LaFarge Cement Plant for over thirty years. Garry enjoyed auto body work and rebuilding cars, but he also enjoyed golfing and was very proud of his Cherokee Heritage. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister in law Gloria Bassett and nephew Larry Gene Bassett Jr.
Survivors include his daughters Arna Williams of Miami, and Christine Denise Bassett of Miami, his brothers Thomas Lee Bassett and his wife Judy of Afton, Richard Allan Bassett of Grove, and his twin brother Larry Gene Bassett of Afton, his grandchildren Karissa Cantwell, Drew Williams, Alexis Denise Bassett, Camri Elise Blumer and Mercedes Ruth Stratton and one great grandchild Luke Tyler Simpson.
Visitation will be 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Afton.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 at Trinity Baptist Church in Afton with Reverend Blake Wallace officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Afton under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Afton.
Casketbearers will be Richard Bassett, Linc Bassett, Bobby Shinn, Jeffery Quick, Derek Bassett and Stevie Bassett.
