Rita M. Bassett, 1920-2007
Rita M. Bassett (Peiffer), 86, formerly of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 at Fort Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson, WI. She was born October 1, 1920 in Aurora, IL.
Rita was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church and a current member of St. Mary's Church in Palmyra, WI. She was employed by Illinois Bell and the High Street Pharmacy. For many years Rita lovingly cared for her sister Lucille, who was afflicted with Down Syndrome. Rita enjoyed word puzzles, fishing and dancing.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Thomas Bassett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Margaret (Klaren) Peiffer; five brothers, Michael, Alfred, Joseph, Carl and Leo; four sisters, Mae, Frances, Lucille and Evelyn.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 9, 2007 at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Church, Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2007 from 10:30 AM until the funeral hour at St. Joseph Church, 722 High Street, Aurora, IL.
