Julian Bass
Julian Lamar Bass, 53, died Thursday afternoon at 4:10 p.m. after a sudden illness. He was a native of Pachuta, Miss. He had lived in this area for 35 years. He had been an operator for the Light Oil Deparment, Gulf Oil in Port Arthur for 34 years. He was a vete3ran of World War II and the Korean War and received numerous citations and honors including a Bronze Star. He saw service in the Battle of Leyete, Luson and the Philippines. He was a member of the OCAW Local 423 and of St. Paul?s United Methodist Church of Bridge City.
Services will be today at 3:30 p.m. in the Bride City Fuenral Home. The Rev. Preston Dumas, pastor of St. Paul?s United Methodist Churdch will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Garden Cemetery in Orange.
Pallbearers will be C. Omeaux, A.J. Hebert, R.L. Carter, K.R. Peveto, J.T. Frazier, J.A. Lewallen. Honorary pallbearers will be employes of the Light Oil Dept. of Gulf Oil in Port Arthur.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia Bass of Bridge City; two foster sons Jimmy and Sean Johnson of Bridge City; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Norton, Miss Clara Bass, Mrs. Vivian Crary, Mrs. Sarah Greene, all of Mobile, Ala. and Mrs. Rebecca Brewer of Guntersville, Ala.; and two brothers, John W. Bass, Jr. of Port Arthur and Kelley K. Bass of Jackson, Miss.
