SHREVEPORT, LA ? Funeral services for Beverly Dianne Jones Alexander Short Bassett, 69, of Shreveport will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in Rockett Funeral Home Chapel, Ringgold, LA. Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M. in Simsboro Cemetery in Simsboro, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Stuart Freeman and Bro. Jerry Hodge. Visitation will be at Rockett Funeral Home, Ringgold, LA on Monday, May 25, 2105 from 5:00 ? 8:00 P.M. Mama-D was born July 22, 1945 in Springhill, LA and went to be with Her Lord on May 22, 2015 in Shreveport, LA after a short illness. She grew up in Athens, LA. Mama-D married Jerry Alexander and they made their home in Simsboro, LA. She retired from LA Tech University after working for many years in the Lady Techster?s office, then in the Arts and Architecture office. After Jerry?s death, she later married Mack Short and moved to Ringgold, LA where she lived for twenty years. She moved to Shreveport this year after marrying Mike Bassett. She was a fun loving, sweet, Christian lady that was loved by her family and so many friends. Mama-D loved traveling, music, shopping and being with her family. She was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ and recently University Church of Christ in Shreveport, LA. Mama-D was preceded in death by her parents, Coot and Opal Liles, and her first two husbands, Jerry Alexander and Mack Short. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Mike Bassett of Shreveport, LA; children, Bradley and Kim Alexander of Ruston, LA, Chad and Jessica Alexander of Simsboro, LA, Donna and Joe Wiggins of Ringgold, LA, Steve Short and Larry Short, both of Ringgold, LA; grandchildren, Mallory Wiggins of Murfreesboro, TN, Joedy and Lauren Wiggins of Ringgold, LA, Reid Bowen of Ruston, LA, Lucas Short of Ringgold, LA, Parker and Peyton Alexander of Ruston, LA, and Josh and Matt Makowsky of Ringgold, LA; brothers, Roland and Paula Liles and Ronnie and Cathy Liles, all of Athens, LA; Mike?s mother, Mrs. Lois Bassett of Shreveport, LA; Mike?s children, Tommy and Lisa Rainer of Keithville, LA, Joseph and Chrystal Bassett of Shreveport, LA, Teresa and Steven Smith of Bossier City, LA, April and Jeremy Spears of Marshall, TX and his five grandchildren; also Mama-D?s faithful dog, Pike County Short. Pallbearers will be Joedy Wiggins, Lucas Short, Casey Liles, Jon David Liles, Roddy Pate and James Colvin.
