Bass, Wilford Parker - U.S. Army Veteran, born May 12, 1930 in Elmore County and a longtime resident of the Wallsboro community passed away at his home on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the age of 84. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home. Funeral services are Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Chana Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Eclectic, Alabama with Reverend Nelson Parker officiating.
Mr. Bass will lie in state one half hour prior to services at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Chana Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Alice Faye Bass; two sons, Russell Bass and Johnny (Mary) Bass; daughter, Patty (Barry) Chrietzberg; two brothers, Sherwood (Melba) Bass and Handley (Elizabeth) Bass; two sisters, Margaret Sheriff and Betty Hicks; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Alcia Bass; brother, James H. Bass; sister, Myrtice Hodges; and by a son, Joseph Pero Bass.
Pallbearers will be Adam Bass, Randy Bass, Robert Bass, Kenny Deason, Jimmy Bass, and Wayne Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Henderson, W.A. Jones, Thomas Bass, Charles Mitchell, and Mike Reynolds. The family expresses special thanks to Faye “Renee” Mayes and Angela of Hospice Advantage for their love and care.
