Joyce May Edwards Bass

PEARLAND, TX ? Joyce May Bass, 83, passed away on May 29, 2011, in Pearland, Texas.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1927, in Joplin, Mo., to Reginald and Adelaide Edwards.
She is preceded in death by her brother John Edwards.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 61 years, Carl E. Bass, of Houston, Texas; three sons, John Bass and wife, Sherry, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and their children, Jennifer and husband, Beau, Robert and Will; Carl Bass and wife, Judy, of Kingwood, Texas, and their children, Jillian, Caitie and Stephanie; and Rev. James Bass and wife, Deborah, of Friendswood, Texas, and their children, Jeremy and Jason; one daughter, Carol Reed and husband, Dale, of Houston, Texas, and their son, Dillon; and her brother, Galen Edwards and wife, Mary Ann, of Joplin; as well as a nephew, Ronald Hansen; and five nieces, Anita Davis, Gayle Sawyer, Karen Mattes, Susie Edwards and Ann (Edwards) Ford; and other friends.
Joyce was an exceptional artist and painter. She loved gardening, cooking, reading and her family.
She worked as a medical technologist and supervised the laboratory at Hillcroft Medical Clinic before retiring. She was an active member of St. Philip's UMC before moving to the Friendswood area and joined Friendswood UMC.
The funeral service was conducted on Thursday, June 2, at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Friendswood, with Rev. Gale Towns officiating.
She will be interred at a later time in Mount Hope Cemetery in Joplin.
