      Taylor Eugene Bass

Taylor Eugene Bass went home to be with the Lord on February 23, 2023 at the age of 40. He was born to Lynda LeGrone Bass and R. Eugene Bass, MD on May 18, 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia. Taylor met his wife, Angela Mondello Bass in 2010. They married three years later in 2013 and had two children-Luke Joseph Bass (8) and Rosalie Mae Bass (6). He is survived by his parents, wife, and children, along with his brother, Reginald Tyler Bass (Summer), close cousins Jamie Arms (Kathryn) and Jessica Redmon (Blaine), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his much-loved in-laws. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents (Blanche and Herbert LeGrone), his paternal grandparents (Lottie and Reginald Bass), and his Aunt Jane LeGrone Arms. Taylor grew up in Long Beach, Mississippi and graduated from Long Beach High School in 2001. He attended LSU and spent some of his most memorable days with many of his dearest friends as an equipment manager for the football team from 2005 to 2007. After graduating from LSU in 2007, he attended the Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy in Minden, Louisiana. He then began serving Slidell as a firefighter with St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1. At the time of his passing, he served as a Fire Prevention Officer within District #1. Taylor was an avid LSU fan and said that one of the greatest days of his life was witnessing LSU beat 'Bama in Tiger Stadium in 2022 on his son's birthday, with his wife and children cheering in the stands with him. He attended Lakeshore Church with his family; he cultivated many close friendships there. Taylor was an incredible husband to Angela and a phenomenal father to Luke and Rosalie. He leaves behind a brotherhood of comrades from St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1, a close group of church friends (his "Homies"), and many friends and loved ones that he met in his 40 short years on earth. Although words cannot describe how deeply he is missed, his family and friends take comfort in the fact that he had a personal relationship with Jesus and is currently sitting in the presence of the Lord (while probably wearing a purple and gold robe). The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care and honor provided by his Firefighter and Fire Prevention brothers at District #1, as well as St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection Districts #2, #5, #12, and #13, St. Tammany Parish Communications District #1, Acadian Ambulance, St. Tammany Parish Hospital Emergency Room staff, and officers from the Covington Police Department, St. Tammany Parish Sherriff's Office, and State Police Troop L. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at First Baptist Church Covington on February 28 at 11:00 with visitation beginning at 9:30. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. Please sign the guestbook at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
