She was born on Nov. 27, 1926, to the late Dr. Caesar S. and Pearl B. Bassette in the Phoebus section of Hampton, Va. She graduated from George P. Phoenix High School in 1944. During her life she worked at Strawberry Banks and Fort Eustis in the Laundry Department. She also worked at the VA Medical Hospital where she served in the Clothing Room and later as a Supply Clerk until she retired in 2000. She last worked at Langley Air Force Base as a switch board operator.
