      Maisie Pearl Bass of Granby, Missouri departed this life peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2008 at her home, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 9 days. Maisie entered this life on September 22, 1918 in Sherman, Kansas, the only daughter born to the late William Baker and Hattie Ellen (Howard) Babcock. She was raised and educated in rural Sherman, Kansas. On February 11, 1942 in Oswego, Kansas she was united in marriage to Lyle Edward Bass and to this union 3 daughters were born. They made their home in rural Sarcoxie, Missouri and shortly after began their pastoral ministry, which led them to churches in Kansas, Washington, Oklahoma and Missouri. In 1960 they moved to Granby. Maisie was a devoted homemaker to her husband and daughters and also worked out of their home as a child-care provider. She began babysitting Stefanie Fullerton at the age of six months and lovingly cared for her as if she was part of her family. Maisie enjoyed playing scrabble, sewing, baking homemade cinnamon rolls and working in her yard. She was a member of the Redwood Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years on October 1, 1991; and a brother, Ernest Babcock. Maisie is survived by her three daughters, Janet Hollenbeck and husband, John, of Afton, Oklahoma, Cheryl Peterson and husband, Shawn, of Winslow, Arizona and Glenda Luelf and husband, David, of Granby, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jeff Granger and wife, Angie, Julie Sumner and husband, Chuck, Ryan Luelf and wife, Caroline, Byron Collinsworth and wife, Allissa, Eric Luelf and wife, Jillian, Perry Peterson and Hattie Peterson; five great grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany and Jordyn Granger, Brody Sumner and Addison Luelf; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral services for Maisie Pearl Bass are 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Redwood Holiness Church near Sarcoxie, Missouri with Reverends LeRoy Newport and Kenneth Filsinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Granby Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Jeff Granger, Chuck Sumner, Ryan Luelf, Byron Collinsworth, Eric Luelf and Perry Peterson. Jerry Fullerton, Matt Friend, Adrian Ford, Justin Bounous and Brandon Granger are serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel in Sarcoxie, Missouri . Memorials are being directed to Community Hospices of America and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
