Irwin Bass Jr.
Irwin Bass, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. He was surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.
Jr, the son of Irwin and Jessie Bass was born March 2, in Wilmington, DE. He graduated as a mechanic from H. Fletcher Brown Technical School in Wilmington. After high school, he worked for Shorts Garage then in 1967 he joined Local 42 Insulators Union and worked until he retired in August of 1992.
On November 13, 1965, he married the love of his life Mary Lou Farrall. Who was by his side daily until the end.
He was passionate about old cars. His first restoration was a 1965 Ford Falcon, then a 1936 Ford Coupe that we all called ZZ. He loved restoring old projects and continued tinkering in his garage up until his passing. His best advice to his daughters when they asked for help was to "Youtube it!" His next favorite past time was playing 313 with his family and neighbors. He also enjoyed weekly coffee with his dear friends.
Jr leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Bass, and two daughters Sheila Bass Squier of Felton and Michelle Hite and partner Theresa L. Cave of Magnolia. three grandsons, Michael Eastman and wife Veronica of Felton, Joshua Eastman and partner Angie DeFilippis of Milford and Nathaneal Squier of Felton, three great granddaughters Ayla, Brooklyn and Peyton Eastman. He is also survived by his sister Jean Maxwell and husband Lee of Lewes, DE.
He was preceded in?? death by his parents Irwin Sr. and Jessie Bass, two sisters Carol Berry, Louise Keller, and a great granddaughter Ava Michelle Eastman.
Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private at a later date.
