      Raymond Eugene Boothe, 78, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Boone County Hospital in Columbia.

      Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at Parker-Millard Funeral Service and Crematory. Memorial Celebration will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, at Columbia Benevolent Organization at the Columbia Elks Lodge 594.

      He was born on June 15, 1938 in Green Mountain, Iowa. The son of Raymond and Myrtle (Bass) Boothe of whom preceded him in death.

      Ray was married to the love of his life, his best friend, and soulmate Charlotte on June 15, 1958.

      He graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After graduation he was employed with the Missouri Department of Transportation before moving to Columbia in 1967, where he built, opened and operated Nickerson Farms.

      Ray and Charlotte purchased and operated Ed's Café on the corner of Broadway & 5th from 1973-1983. Ray was an entrepreneur and business man throughout the years. He was an active member of the Columbia Elks Lodge #594 for 42 years. He served as a Trustee for many years, received Elk of the Year numerous times along with other awards and accolades. Ray was an active member in the community working hard to better all those around him.

      He is most known for his immense love for his family. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether at an MU game tailgating, fishing with his grandkids, cooking for any occasion or just going to the movies with his sweetheart. His integrity, loyalty and passion to others was unsurpassed. His strong character and soul not only touched the lives of his children but spread to all those who crossed his path. He was a father figure to many.

      He is survived by his wife of 58 years Charlotte Boothe of Columbia; his four daughters, Kim Ritten (Hans) of Chicago, Michelle Gastler (Mark) of Columbia, Stacy Morgan (Matthew) of Warrensburg, Amy McDonald (Thomas) of Lake Tapawingo. Grandchildren, Liam Ritten, Joshua Mantle (Julie), Amanda Gastler and fiancé Dan Valbracht, Madelyn Morgan, Mackenzie Morgan and Charles Morgan, Lillian McDonald and Molly McDonald; Great grandson, Bennett Mantle; and many nieces and nephews.

      He was proceeded in death by four sisters, Loretta DeWild, Phyllis Berube, Erma Lee Cooke, Lucille Dunphy; and one brother, Larry Boothe.

      In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbia Benevolent Organization (501-C3).
