She was predeceased by her parents, Harvey L. and Evelyn Parks Crawford, and a sister, Joyce C. Saunders. Surviving are her husband, N. Thomas Bass, Jr. of Buchanan; her children, Linda Hale Gordon and husband, John Gordon of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Thomas E. Hale and wife, Hope C. Hale, Donna Hale Abbott and husband, Caudel Abbott all of Roanoke; grandchildren, Katie Hale, Cynthia Abbott and Ross Gordon; a brother-in-law, J.T. Saunders and a nephew, David Saunders of Roanoke. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 1999 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The Reverend G. William Foster will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel.
