    Notes 
    • Elias Farrar never married. He enlisted as a private in Company I, 19 (Dawson's) Arkansas Infantry on February 26, 1862. He was wounded and captured on January 11, 1863 during the Union attack on Fort Hindman at Arkansas Post. He was sent to Camp Douglas outside of Chicago, Illinois, where he died of smallpox on May 22, 1863. He was buried in Chicago at Oak Woods Cemetery in a Confederate mound. While he was a prisoner he carved a pipe out of applewood and managed to send it to his sister Sarah Louisa Farrar. The family still has the pipe, with a note that Elias put inside of it.
