- Notes in Orphans Court, October 1836. “Jetson Green appointed guardian of Piety, Sarah, Kiziah and Jurisa Bass, minor heirs of Andrew Bass”.
(Further note - Jetson Green was the second husband of Julia Ann Holliman (whose first husband was John Bass). John Bass died in 1820 in Perry County, Alabama. Andrew Bass was a brother to John Bass. Andrew died about 1836 in Wayne County, North Carolina and his wife was also deceased leaving five daughters, four of whom were minor children. The girls moved to Perry County, Alabama under the guardianship of Jetson Green. All the girls (Talitha, Piety, Keziah, Sarah and Jerusha) were married in Perry County, Alabama between the years of 1836 and 1843.)

Daughter of Andrew Bass, she, along with four of her sisters to wit: Keziah, Piety, Jerusha and Sarah, were sent on a wagon trip 500 miles west to Perry County, Alabama to live with their cousin Uriah Bass, himself orphaned in 1822, till they found a husband.
They all found husbands in the households of neighbors of Uriah Bass. Talitha married 1st Stephen Farrar on February 12, 1836, son of Henry Lansford Farrar, with whom she had
Elias Farrar, born 1840. Elias Farrar died as a Confederate Prisoner of War at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois in 1863. Her second husband was William Black and they were married February 22, 1849 and had a daughter, Nancy Black, born in 1849. William Black died before the 1850 Federal Census of Dallas County, Alabama. She then moved to Union Parish, Louisiana to live with her cousin, Keziah Traylor, (listed as Cisire Traylor in the 1850 Federal Census of Union Parish, Louisiana). There she met Reverend William Merrill, brother of James M Merrill, overseer for J C Traylor, brother of James M Traylor. Reverend William Merrill of Tennessee, recently widowed and with a daughter, wed Talitha Bass Farrar Black in Union Parish, Louisiana in 1851. The marriage is listed as Talitha Farrar and William Merrill. The family shows in the 1860 Federal Census in Hempstead County, Arkansas. Her son Elias is listed as Elias Farrar Merrill.
Sarah Louisa Farrar, born 1842, died December 5, 1931 married Levi Crawford Whitten, and then Shelby C. Holmes.
