      Richard Blackledge, acting Exuctor of Andrew Bass, late of Craven County, to George Kornegay of Duplin County, for L150, 200 acres, being a certain tract or parcel of land laying in the County of Duplin that by the last will & testament of the above said Andrew Bass Senr. was ordered to be sold and the proceeds thereof to be equally divided between his grandsons Thomas & William Blackledge & Uriah and Andrew Bass as by the said will.

      Andrew Bass Family of Dobbs and Craven County
      Andrew Bass lived in Craven County, North Carolina and died there in 1767. He was a large owner, in Craven and Dobbs County. One vast holding of his was referred to by some of the local gentry as Bass’s Folly. It has not been proven where this man was from, or who his parents were. However, he seemed to be an educated man and well liked by all his contemporaries.
      Richard Bass, son of Andrew Bass and wife Anne Bass, was born in Craven County, North Carolina about 1730, died in Wayne County, North Carolina in 1814. He is thought to have married Sarah McKinnie of Wayne County.
      Anne Bass was born about 1732 in Craven County, North Carolina. She married Richard Blackledge, Esquire of Craven County, North Carolina, son of Benjamin Blackledge, Sr.
      Andrew Bass born about 1734 in Craven County, North Carolina, died 1791 in Wayne County. He married Alice Ann Rhodes, a daughter of William Rhodes and Sarah (Nancy) Pipkin of Wayne County. Andrew was Wayne County’s first physician. Waynesboro was built on the lands of Dr. Andrew Bass. They were the parents of Alice Anne Bass who married General James Rhodes.
