Dr. John Whitworth Shaw III
Dr. John Whitworth Shaw, III, of Sumter, husband of Brenda Outlaw Shaw, died August 21, 2010. He was 67.
Born in Sumter, he was the son of Mary Frances Bass Shaw and the late John Whitworth Shaw, Jr.
Dr. Shaw was a graduate of Edmunds High School, Clemson College, and the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. He also served as a Captain in the United States Air Force.
He was the owner of the Palmetto Veterinary Clinic, and was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians, the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, where he served as a past Chairman, the South Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Society of First Families of South Carolina, the First Families of Virginia, Rotary International, and First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a past Deacon.
Surviving are his beloved wife of Sumter; his mother of Sumter; two sons, John Whitworth Shaw IV of Charleston and Allen Bass Shaw and wife Mary Karen of Hawthorne, FL; one daughter, Elizabeth Allen Myers and husband Shawn of Daniel Island; five grandchildren, Allen and Emily Myers, and Tyler, Clayton, and Kiersten Shaw; one sister, Mary Catharine Shaw Williams and husband Dr. Barney L. Williams of Sumter.
Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
