BASS, Emmett S., Jr., It is with both sadness and great joy that the family of Emmett S. Bass Jr. announces his passing from his earthly home on November 9, 2022, to his heavenly home.
Born on August 13, 1942 in Danville, Va. to Emmett S. Bass Sr. and Virginia Osborne Bass, he was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Marie Bass Elliott.
Emmett is survived by his children, Teresa Doss (Gene) of Appomattox and Becky Silby of Lynchburg and their mother, Dale Bryant of Appomattox, Debbie Davis (Hoggie) of Coats, N.C., Jeff Bass (Dawn) of Glen Allen, Tracey Edwards (Todd) of Bumpass and Troy Bass (Casey) of Mechanicsville; and their mother, Mary Ellen Kelley of Tappahannock.
Emmett publicly accepted Jesus Christ into his life in 1951 and was baptized at Cool Spring Baptist Church. He had a passion for listening to and singing gospel music. His favorite hobby was antiquing.
He graduated in 1959 from Lee-Davis High School.
Emmett had many cherished memories from his time working at Pleasants Hardware in Richmond, Williamsburg Antique Mall and Woody's Funeral Home. He was proud to be a 50-plus year Mason.
