He was a member of Strict Observance Lodge No. 207, AF&AM, and Third Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James F. Swain of Lumberson, N.C., and Mrs. Mary B. Newton of Richmond; three brothers, V.K. and H.C. Bass, both of Richmond, and two sisters, Mrs. C. E. Feruson and Mrs. Louise B. Early, both of Richmond, and two grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sutherland-Brown Funeral Home, with burial in Riverview Cemetery.
