Death of Mr. Thomas Bass
On Tuesday morning, September 23rd, 1890, expected death came and relived Tommie R. Bass of his suffering, and released his pure spirit from its emaciated body and sent him home to heaven to be with Jesus, of whom he spoke so often, and with whom he longed to be so much. He was born April 13th, 187; professed religion and joined Epheaus Baptist church in the years 1886. He was a model in obedience as a son, in conduct as a church member, in liberality as a Christian and in patience as a suffered. Neuralgia was his disease, from which he suffered until the ocular nerve became paralyzed, producing blindness. During the two years of his blindness and suffering, he was never heard to complain, and immediately after his severest attacks would sing some sweet song, expressive of his faith in Christ. He ask sorrowing parents and devoted sisters and brothers not to grieve for him, saying, ?I am going to rest, and be with my Savior in glory?. His funeral, which took place in the home of his childhood and life, on Wednesday evening following his death, was largely attended by his friends, who felt though they were laying his body to rest in the grave, they were not burying their hopes, but would meet him again in the sweet by-and-by.

BASS ? On Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, 1890, God called Thomas R. Bass from his sufferings on earth to heaven and into that rest which remaineth for the people of God. He was born April 13, 1872, and joined Epheusus Baptist church in 1886. He was a model in obedience, church-membership, liberality, and patience in suffering. May God comfort the sorrowing family.
