Bass, a popular Norfolk and Western conductor, died yesterday in Lunenburg county, where he had gone for his health. Mr. Bass resided on Chapman avenue and the remains will reach Roanoke this afternoon. He was a son of Capt. W.C. Bass and a brother of Mrs. C.D. Fox. Mr. Bass had been in ill health for several weeks, but the announcement of his death will come as a great shock to his many friends in this city. He leaves a wife and one child to mourn their loss.
