Daniel Bass
Departed this life, on Saturday morning, about 20 minutes after 2 o?clock at the residence of his brother, Richard Bass, at Powhatan C.H., Mr. Daniel Bass, in the 5?th year of his age, after a painful and protracted illness of nearly three years ? during which time, he has not been able to walk. His sufferings consisted of a severe and excruating the????? and a distressing pulmonary consumption, which have more or less afflicted him for 20 years past. He has left four orphan children, (who lost their mother 2 years ago,) and a numerous circle of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

In the name of God amen by Daniel Bass of the county of Powhatan do make this my last will and Testament as follows to wit-
I give my whole estate real and personal to my four children two with Elizabeth Ann Bass, Wm Edward Bass, Mary Porter Bass, and Frances Delia Bass to them and their heirs forever but with this provision - that my executor if he thinks at any time during the infancy of my children, that their interests will be promoted by a sale of my land, then he is hereby authorized to sell the same upon such terms as he may think best and divide the money equally between my said children. I wish my son William Edward to have as good an education as my executor may think the circumstances of my estate will justify - And I hereby appoint my brother Richard Bass executor of this my last Will. In testimony whereof I have subscribed my name and affixed my seal on this 5th day of June in the year 1835.

At a court held for Powhatan County at the courthouse thereof on Monday the 6th day of July 1835. The foregoing last will and testament of Daniel Bass dec'd was presented in court and proved by the oaths of Colin Bass and Edward W Bass two of the subscribing witnesses to the same and ordered to be recorded....
