Deceased was a son of the late Mr. Robert Bassett, one of the most highly respected pioneer settlers of the place named, the property he then held be included in Mrs. M. Ahearn?s estate. Deceased was a brother of our well-known townsman, Mr. J.F. Bassett, and spent some years at Strath Creek whence the family moved over 40 ago, he subsequently removing to Melbourne.
