Homer E. Bassett
Bassett, Homer E. - Age 73, of Flint, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Brian's House in Davison. Mr. Bassett was born November 3, 1933 in Shaftsburg, MI, the son of Elias and Mabel Bassett. He servied his country with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. In 1957 and 1958 Homer attended Bethel Coolege and in 1961 he graduated from God Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He had worked for Dow Chemical Co. Mr. Bassett was a Minister for Missionary Church for 18 years, he also worked for Dow Chemical Co. Mr. Bassett was a Minister for Missionary Church for 18 years, he also worked for Camp Lakeview for 14 years and Carriage Town Ministries for 14 years. In 1956 Homer married Patricia Noel. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary last November and she survives him. Also surviving are: sons, Timothy (Nancy) Bassett, Philip (Cheryl) Bassett, Paul (Erika) Bassett; six grandchildren, Jordan, Rachel, Olivia, Alicia, Jacob and Luke Bassett. His four brothers also survive him, Ellsworth Bassett, Robert (Arlene) Bassett, Jerald (Pat) Bassett, Herald (Joyce) Bassett; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bassett was a foster parent to 56 children. Homer was preceded in death by : his parents; sister-in-law, Helen; and nephew, Daivd. Friends may visit the family from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 PM Tuesday at Reigle Funeral Home Sunset Chapel. Mr. Bassett will lie in state at church from 10 AM Wednesday until the time of service. The funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Faith Missionary Church, 1327 N. Elms Rd., Flint. Pastor Tom Knight and Pastor Bill Barnwell will co-officiate. Burial will follow at Meadowview Memorial Gardens in Davison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries - Transition House or Brian's House. The family would like so send a special thank you for the wonderful staff at Brian's House in Davison.
