Born April 19, 1952 in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Bass and Beatrice Woodruff Bass. Mrs. Hurley was a lifelong member of Carters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Selma. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Carters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Parrish Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Surviving are her husband, William Hurley of Selma; daughter, Jodie Freeman and husband Will of Buies Creek; daughter, Billie Gordon and husband Tommy of New Bern; brother, Roy Bass of Selma; sister, Ann Hartley of Princeton; sister, Rose Rains of Princeton; special pet, Smokie. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, North Carolina 28607-3000.
