Noah Bass, 62
A memorial service will be held tonight for Noah "Sam" Bass, a retired FBI agent who taught judo and firearms skills to local police departments. Bass, who died Sunday, was 62 and lived in Doylestown.
From 1972 to 1978, Bass was special agent in charge of the Lansdale office, which investigates violations of federal law in Montgomery and Bucks counties. Appointed to the FBI in 1951, Bass also worked in Terre Haute, Ind., and Philadelphia.
A native of Goldsboro, N.C., Bass graduated from the University of North Carolina, and served with the Army Air Corps in World War II.
After retiring from the FBI in 1978, Bass taught classes on firearms, judo and law enforcement procedures to police candidates in Bucks County. He was an adviser to the Police Training Association of Pennsylvania.
Bass is survived by his wife, the former Ann Cross; a son, Ernie; two daughters, Cinda and Dixie Ann; and two sisters.
The service will be at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Main and Spruce streets, Doylestown.
