Barney Bass
July 22, 1936 ? August 15, 2021
Kenly-Barney Bass, 85, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 15, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Johnston County on July 22, 1936, he was the son of the late John Turner Bass and Teresa Ferrell Bass.
In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his sisters, Bethany Aman, Virginia Scott, and Elgie Tedder; and brothers, Buster Bass and James Henry Bass.
Barney is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie Lee Barnes Bass; son, Johnny Turner Bass; daughter, Sandra Gupere-Lundquist and husband, Steven; two grandchildren, Johnna Gupere and Dylan Gupere; great-grandchildren, Ryland Reinhard and Mikali Sliger; sisters, Mary Eilzabeth Jeffries and Peggy Waddell and husband, Jackie; and several nieces and nephews.
Barney worked for Powell Manufacturing for 34 years, where he traveled all over the world teaching growers how to cure tobacco. He then went on to work for 17.5 years as a maintenance supervisor with Warren Oil Company in Dunn. Barney attended Hickory Crossroads Gospel Center in Kenly.
Barney loved his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, especially his boys, Dylan and Ryland.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 ? 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Kenly Funeral Service, followed by a service to celebrate Barney?s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Duane Evans officiating. Entombment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in the Kenly Cemetery.
