Roy Lee Bass

Roy Lee Bass, 85, entered into eternal life Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Mr. Bass was born March 16, 1937, in Altoga, Texas, the son of Roy M and Verda Lee (Gray) Bass. He married the love of his life, Joy Mason, August 15, 1958, in Copeville, TX. After 39 years, Roy retired as a supervisor for Texas Instruments. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially going fishing. Roy was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He never met a stranger, he loved his family and friends, and they loved him. Roy will be greatly missed in so many ways. Mr. Bass leaves behind his beloved wife, Joy Bass of Denison, TX; son, Rodney Lee Bass and wife, Nan of Sulphur Springs, TX; son-in-law, Mark Barnhill and wife Susan of Kingwood, TX; grandchildren, Reed L. Bass, and wife, Lindsey, Melissa Ewing and husband, Gentry, Addison Rhudy and wife Jessica great grandchildren, Mason Ewing, Easton Ewing, Emersen Bass, Mylah Bass, Raelynn Bass, Zeek Rhudy, Cora Rhudy, and sister, Rheta L. Lawson of Blue Ridge, TX. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and beloved daughter, Rebecca L. Bass-Barnhill, granddaughter, Brittany Barnhill. Funeral service for Mr. Bass was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2023, at Southside Baptist church with Rev. Keith Taylor and Rev. Mark Barnhill officiating. Graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. Family and friends gathered to visit from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2023, at the church. Pallbearers were Reed Bass, Gentry Ewing, Alan King, Addison Rhudy, Steve Eldredge, and Crandon Haddock. Honorary pallbearers were Monte Self, Mark Cross, Jerry Byrd, Brad Mounsey, Larry Lumm, Mike Putman, Freddie Melton, and G. W. Melton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to Southside Baptist Church, St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, or Shriner?s Children?s Hospital. Condolences may be registered online at www.fisherfh.com. Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home in Denison.
