Violet Gertrude Ferrell Bass
Violet Gertrude Ferrell Bass, 88, of 372 Cedar Terrace, Evington, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at the residence. She was the wife of the late Albert R. Crouch, Roy Hendrick and Nathan Melroy Bass.
She was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Huntersville, N.C., a daughter of the late Florence Monroe Ferrell and Sarah Beatrice Miller Ferrell.
She was a member of Lambs United Methodist Church and a retired employee of the Central Virginia Training Center.
Surviving are three sons, Richard A. Crouch, Robert Wayne Crouch and David Monroe Crouch; two daughters, Violet Ann Crouch Garner and Sarah Leigh Hall, all of Evington; one brother, Harold M. Ferrell of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A son, Roger Ellison Crouch, preceded her in death.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Lambs United Methodist Church, Altavista, by the Rev. John Franklin. Burial followed in Altavista Memorial Park.
Finch & Finch Inc. Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista, was in charge of arrangements.
