Miss Bass Is Holiday Bride
Wilson - Miss Gloria Anita Bass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lynwood Anderson Bass of Wilson, and Marshall Louis Newbern of Charleston, South Carolina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Edward Newbern of Elizabeth City, were married at the First Methodist Church here yesterday.
The Reverend Robert W. Bradshaw officiated.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white Italian taffeta and Chantilly lace, embroidered with seed pearls and sequins. Her fingertip veil of French illusion was attached to a scalloped half-hat of matching lace. She carried a white Bible with a white orchid.
The maid of honor, Miss Virginia Leigh Hughes of Richmond, Virginia, wore a sapphire green lace sheath dress and carried a cascade bouquet of bronze mums and pom-poms.
The ushers were L.A. Bass Jr., brother of the bride, William Edward Minsbew Jr., cousin of the bride, both of Wilson; Jim Matthews of Winston-Salem and Larry McSwain of Thomasville.
Music was presented by Russell T. Roebuck, organist, and Miss Peggy Jane Tyson of Wilson.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlor, after which the couple left for a wedding trip.
The bride was graduated from Atlantic Christian College. She is a member of the Brentwood Elementary School faculty of North Charleston, South Carolina.
The bridegroom attended Atlantic Christian College. He is now a student at the School of Pharmacy of the Medical College of Charleston.
