Steven R. Merrick, 61, Duncansville, unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday at UPMC Altoona after a sudden heart attack.He was born in Akron, Ohio, son of Robert D. and Helen M. (Neuhauser) Merrick. In July, 1980, he married Kyler Bass in Cumberland, Md. Surviving are his mother; his wife; a daughter, Kara R. Ayaram and husband, David, of Gapevine, Texas; two sons: the Rev. Dr. James R. A. Merrick and wife, Allison, of Aberdeen, Scotland, and Jeremy A. Merrick and wife, Suzanne L., of Concord, N.C.; six grandchildren: Isabelle and Abigail Ayaram, Rowan, Evelyn, and Magdalene and Heidi Merrick; a sister, Steffanie and husband, Laine Malmquist; a brother-in-law, Kevin and wife, Carol Bass; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.He was preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Merrick.Steven earned a BS in Civil Engineering and a BA in Architecture from Louisiana Tech. University. He served as chief estimator throughout at 20-year career at New Enterprise Stone and Lime, in addition to working as an estimator for several other construction companies. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg, where he served as a deacon, a member of the missions? board and as a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed reading the Bible, serving the Lord, music and traveling, and he passionately loved his family.Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016, at Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016, Pastor Daren Ritchey officiating. Entombment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Love in Action, 210 E.
