- 3B31. John Bassett, son of Thomas and Sarah (Baldwin) Bassett, was born in 1687 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. He died in Milford, Connecticut in 1759. He married Mary Holt on 4 Feb 1724. Mary died 23 Oct 1752, aged 64 years, in Milford, Connecticut. John was a farmer. They were members of the Congregationalist Church.
One source indicates John was born in Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut. (No reference given.)

LAND: Milford, New Haven, Connecticut Land Records; V 12 p 4. 2 Apr 1744, John Bassett is granted a Proprietor's Grant to land in Milford; "Land on the upper end of Grassy Hill [?] near 2-Mile Brook and is land in two pieces, one containing 3 acres and 1/2 bounded N & E with highway S on land of Governor Laws [?] lying triangle wise also 1 acre and -- roods at the westward end of the Gev'l [?] land running eastward 3 rods 7 rods wide at the west end bounded N & W with highway S on Gov'er Law's land. Recorded 2 Mar 1748/9.
