      Hood Bass Sr.
      Hartsville - Hood Bass Sr., farmer of Route 1, Darlington, died Wednesday night after a long illness.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday from the Chapel of Brown-Pennington Funeral Home by the Reverend Leon Newton and the Reverend W.S. Jones. Interment will be in Bethel Church Cemetery.
      Mr. Bass was the son of the late George W. and Mrs. Cathryn Griggs Bass.
      Survivors include his widow, the former Miss Sally Humphries; the following children by a former wife, Mrs. Nannie Privette, who died in 1929; one son, Hood Bass Jr., of Darlington; two daughters, Mrs. J. Earl (Annie Mae) Goodson of Darlington and Mrs. George M. (Edy Anne) Hutchinson of Darlington; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Henrey L. Bass of Lydia, and two sisters, Mrs. L.E. Dampier of Lamar and Mrs. Maxy Galloway of Lydia.
