J.E. Bass
FLORENCE ? Jerome E. Bass, 73, retired Atlantic Coast line Railroad conductor, died Thursday in a Columbia hospital.
At the time of his death, he was making his home with his son, Jerome E. Bass Jr., at 2900 Pruitt Drive in Columbia.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Waters Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Bass was born in Florence County, a son of the late Josiah and Alice Oliver Bass.
He was a member of Central Methodist Church and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. He was a Mason and a member of Hampton Lodge No. 204, AFM.
He was married to the former Miss Lottie Shackelford who died Jan. 20, 1954.
Surviving are: a son, Jerome Bass Jr., of Columbia; three sisters ,Mrs. May Wiles of Richtex, Mrs. Doris Anderson of Richmond, Va., and Mrs. Jessie Picardie of Petersburg, Va.; a brother, Joe Bass of Richmond, Va.; and three grandchildren.
