James S. Bass
HARTSVILLE ? James S. Bass, 72, died Friday night.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Brown and Pennington Funeral Home by Rev. Carroll Johnson and Rev. D.J. Stoner. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Bearers will be: Tom Traywick, James D. Traywick, Josehp B. Traywick, S.D. DeLorne, Billy Gandy and Alex Sumner.
Mr. Bass was born at Flynn?s Cross Roads near Hartsville, a son of the late Robert Lee and Elizabeth Josey Bass.
He attended the University of South Carolina and Furman University. He served in World War I and for a number of years owned and operated the Bass Machine Shop, which was the first of its kind in Hartsville.
For many years he was employed by Cokers Pedigreed Seed Company.
Surviving are the widow of Hartsville, a son, james S. Bass jr. by a former marriage, of Georgetown and a grandson, James S. Bass III, two sisters, Mrs. J.K. Deaver of Orangeburg and Mrs. G.C. Paron of Andrews and a brother, N. Burton Bass of Ridgeland. Friends may call at the residence near Dovesville.

James S. Bass, Resident of Hartsville, Dies
HARTSVILLE ? James S. Bass, 72, died Friday night in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Chapel of the Brown and Pennington Funeral Home. The Rev. Carroll Johnson, pastor of the Black Creek Baptist Church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. D.J. Stoner. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Traywick, James D. Traywick, James D. Traywick, Joseph B. Traywick, S.D. Delorne, Billy Gandy and Alex Sumner.
