Claiborne Davis ?Possum? Bass
SCOTLAND NECK - Mr. Claiborne Davis "Possum" Bass, 53, died Saturday, March 7, 2009.
Possum was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Bass; and his sisters, Kimberly Bass Lanier, Laurie Ann Bass and Marla Bass Wiggins.
Possum is survived by his wife, Betty Edwards Bass; his daughters, Christina Bass of Concord, Elizabeth Bass, Brandi Edwards and Jennifer Bass, all of Greenville, and Elizabeth Cross and her husband, Warren, of Scotland Neck; his sisters, Sonia B. Fernandez and her husband, Jesse, and Janie Bass, all of Scotland Neck, and Angela Bass of Mebane; his brothers, Eddie Bass and his wife, Candace, of Rocky Mount, Mike Bass and his wife, Casey, and Bill Bass and his wife, Carole, all of Scotland Neck, Gene Bass and his wife, Carla, of Tarboro, John Bass and his wife, Rachel, and Brent Bass and his wife, Desiree, all of Halifax; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, at the Baptist Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with the Rev. Billy Poteat officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery, and other times at the home of John and Rachel Bass, 3542 Mary Chapel Road, Halifax.
Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck is handling the arrangements.
