      One-Time Cincinnatian Dies While Visiting Son

      Services for Leon Bass, who once worked as a quality control engineer at General Electric?s Evendale plant, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Weil Funeral home, 3001 Reading Rd.
      He died Friday morning at the home of a son, Robert A. Bass, 2326 Vera Ave., Golf Manor.
      Mr. Bass was a quality control consultant for Honeywell Information Systems, Inc., in Belfort, France, visiting here.
      He was graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1931 and in 1937 began work as a researcher at Wright-Patterson Air Fore Base, Dayton, Ohio. During World War II he was a parts inspector for the Air Force at the General Electric plant in Schenectady, N.Y., and joined OE after the war.
      In 1954 he became the manager for advance quality control for GE?s jet engine division in Evendale.
      In 1961 the U.S. State Department named him to a two-man team to visit Israel as an advisor on quality control. GE Sent hm to a computer component plant in Belfort, and he remained with the plant after it was acquired by Honeywell.
      Mr. Bass was awarded the George D. Edward Medal in 1963 by the American Society for Quality Control ?for outstanding leadership in advancing the practice of quality control.? He was a fellow and past president of the society.
      While in Cincinnati he was active in the United Appeal and the UC Building Fund, and for several years served as trustee and treasurer of Rockdale Temple.
      Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bernice Weiss Bass; three sons, Robert, Cincinnati, Stephen J., Edwardsville, Ill., and James N., Gainesville, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Max (Irma) Leva and Mrs. Alfred (Rosalyn) Silverberg, both of Hollywood, Fla.; and a grand-daughter.
      They family will be at home at 2526 Vera Ave. for the memorial week. Memorials may be made to the Rockdale Temple Building Fund. Burial will be in United Jewish Cemetery, Clifton.
