Peter N. Bass
DEMOTTE ? Peter Nicholas Bass, 83, a resident of DeMotte for 28 years, coming from Stone Valley, Ill., died Tuesday at Porter memorial hospital.
Born Oct. 14, 1886 in Chicago, he was a son of peter and Katherine (Ambuul) Bass, Sr. On Nov. 18, 1909 in Chicago, he married Nettie Prince, who survives.
Bass operated a hardware store in Stone Valley and worked in a grocery store in DeMotte before retirement 10 years ago. he recently was bookkeeper at Wiers Chevrolet garage, DeMotte.
He was a member of the American Reformed church of DeMotte.
Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Donald of Rockford, Ill, and Willard of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Caroline) O?Berne, Patterson, N.J.; three brothers, John and Henry of Chicago, and Clarence of Chicago Heights; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at American Reformed church with the Rev. August Tellinguisen officiating. Burial will be in Holland cemetery.
Friends may call at Todd Funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday.
