- 3B3. Thomas Bassett, son of Thomas and Joanna Bassett, was born in 1660 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He died before 7 Feb 1737 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. He married Sarah Baldwin, daughter of John and Mary (Bruce) Baldwin, in 1686/7. Sarah was born 25 Dec 1655.
Thomas resided at Fairfield, Connecticut until 1700. He first appears in Milford, Connecticut in 1703. All of the children listed below were baptized at Milford, Connecticut on 14 Oct 1703.
BIRTH, DEATH, & MARRIAGE: Thomas2 Bassett, born [say 1660], died at Milford, Conn., before 7 Feb. 1736/7; married Sarah, probably Baldwin, born at Milford, 29 Mar. 1668, daughter of Josiah and Mercy (Camp) Baldwin. Sarah wife of Thomas Bassett was admitted to the First Church, Milford, 10 Oct. 1703, and their seven children were baptized there together on 24 Oct. 1703.
Nathan Grier Parke II, THE ANCESTRY OF LORENZO ACKLEY & HIS WIFE, EMMA ARABELLA BOSWORTH, Donald Lines Jacobus, ed. (Woodstock, Vermont, 1960), p. 244: (FHL Film # 1015822 item 9) "... It is supposed (1) that this Thomas Bassett was the son of Thomas Bassett [1598] of Fairfield, and (2) that his wife Sarah was the daughter of Josiah Baldwin of Milford. Neither of these suppositions has been proved. "THE REPORTS OF THE SECOND REUNION OF OF THE BASSETT FAMILY ASSOCIATION (New Haven, 1898), page 16 states 'Thomas Bassett, who located and died at Fairfield, Conn. had a son Thomas who married Sarah, daughter of John Baldwin, of Milford, Conn., where he located.' It is known that Thomas Bassett [1598] left children, but no proof has been found who they were. By elimination of other possible fathers in the Bassett families of western Connecticut, it seems extremely probable that Thomas [1660] of Milford was the son of Thomas [1598] of Fairfield."

Bassett ... we therefore Have given Granted Bargained and Sold ... unto our s'd brother John Bassett and to his heirs and assigns for ever one certain piece of land situate within ye Township of Milford afores'd lying Northward of Lebanon brook in ye Tract of Land commonly called ye one bitt purchase it being ye piece of land which was ye Right of Claim of our Deceased Father Thomas Bassett late of Milford afrs'd deceas'd, and is in quantity ye one hundred and Eighty Seventh part of s'd tract, ye whole tract being bounded with ye Dividen line Running between New Haven and Milford East Southerly on Lebanon brook, Westerly on ye Dividing line between Milford and Derby; North on ye Dividing line Running between Milford and Waterberry, ....
