Mrs. Gifford was a native of Wilson County, N.C., and was the widow of Wilbert E. Gifford. She was retired from Skippy Peanut Butter Co. Survivors include a son, Worth Gifford and his wife, Irma Evelyn Gifford of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Garland L. Gifford of Virginia Beach, Deborah M. Hale and Darrell L. Gifford, both of Suffolk, and Brian W. Gifford of Portsmouth; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Carlton Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
