Bass Smithfield - William Edwin Bass, 63, farmer of Selma, Route 2, died at his home Wednesday morning around 7 o’clock following an illness of about a year. Funeral services will be conducted at Niagara Pentecostal Holiness Church near Kenly Thursday at 3 p.m. by the pastor, the Reverend E.W. Price of Pine Level, the Reverend J.F. Eppes of Kenly and the Reverend T.M. Bizzell of Princeton. Burial will be in the Hooks cemetery near Fremont. He was a son of the late Robert and Lydia Hooks Bass of Wilson County, and had lived in Johnston County for about 30 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Polly Davis; six daughters, Mrs. Lela Holland and Mrs. Retha Burgess, both of Selma, Mrs. Lola Barbee of Kenly, Route 3, Mrs. Estelle Lucas of Jacksonville, Lacie Bass of Greenville, South Carolina and Christine Bass of Micro; three sons, the Reverend W.N.
