Birdie Bassett Gordon
Birdie Bassett Gordon of Laurel passed away suddenly on Friday, March 19, 2010, at the residence of her nephew and niece, Mike and Clydette Nelson. She touched many lives as she and her husband operated their privately owned grocery store, Gordon's Grocery. She later worked for Alex Loeb department store in Laurel. She was a loving Aunt with strong family loyalty throughout her 96 years. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her genuine interest in others, and her beautiful flowers. She was a member of Leaf River Baptist Church in Pineville, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, T.N. Gordon, and her parents, A.T. Bassett, Sr., and Lonie McNeil Bassett. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Travis Bassett, Terrell Bassett and Hick Bassett; three sisters, Jeralene Carlisle, Annie Mae Nelson and Bertha Tally.
