  Notes	Richmond News Leader, Virignia, Thursday 3 June 1909 Bass-Pike Miss Ethel Denver Pike and Dr. Spencer P. Bass, of North Carolina, were married last evening at Elvon, the country home of the bride?s parents, near Leesburg. The ceremony, which was witnessed by only the immediate families and a few house guests, took place in the drawing room, which was decorated with masses of white peonies. The bride wore an exquisite gown of white satin, trimmed in rose point lace, and orange blossoms. The matron of honor was Mrs. Scott Todd, of Atlanta. The best man was Theodore Cheshire. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W.H. Burkhardt, rector of St. James? church, Leesburg. A large reception followed. The bride is the granddaughter of the late General Albert Pike, and on the maternal side comes from an old Virginia family. Dr. Bass is the son of the late Dr. Henry Bass, of North Carolina.
