- 3B32. Josiah Bassett, son of Thomas and Sarah (Baldwin) Bassett, was born about 1690 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. He died after 1767. He married Alice Canfield, daughter of Jeremiah and Alice (Hine) Canfield, on 25 Apr 1717 in Milford, New Haven, Connecticut. Alice was born 3 May 1696 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. She died before 1740.

One source indicates Josiah was born in Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut. (No reference available.)
BAPTISM of Sarah and Children: Sarah wife of Thomas Bassett was admitted to the First Church, Milford, 10 Oct. 1703, and their seven children were baptized there together on 24 Oct. 1703. LAND: Milford, NH, CT Land Records Vol. 7 p. 249,( FHL Film #4919): Jeremiah Canfield of New Milford, New Haven, in the Colony of Connecticut, husbandman, gave seven acres of land in Milford to his daughters Jeruiah [Zerviah] Terrill, wife of Daniel Terrill, and Alice Bassett, wife of Josiah Bassett on 29 Oct 1728.
