VA, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in an Atlanta nursing facility following a lengthy illness. He was born June 30, 1920, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rogersville. He was a World War II veteran and worked with atomic energy Y-12 at Oak Ridge. He also worked with McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis. When he retired, he moved back to Rogersville until his failing health. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Austin, Kingsport; two sons, Robert Bass III, Atlanta, GA, and James Frank Bass, St. Louis, MO; sister, Mary Ruth Simerly; two brothers, Roy K. Bass, Hendersonville, and Walter T. Bass, Lawrenceville, GA; three grandchildren; and an aunt, Georgia Davis, Rogersville. The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert E. Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
