He was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa, and came to North Port 10 years ago from Dearborn Heights, Mich. An experimental mechanic with Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Mich., he retired after 32 years. He served in the Navy during World War II. He attended San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7997 in North Port and was membership chairman of the Senior Council in North Port. Survivors include his wife, Florence M.; his mother, Winfred of Laurel, Neb.; a daughter, Florence Shackleford of Port Charlotte; a son, Daniel E. of Dearborn Heights; a sister, Elaine Taylor of Newcastle, Neb.; two brothers, Phillip of Anaheim, Calif., and the Rev. Francis of Iowa City, Iowa; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port. Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Venice, is in charge.
